Earl Lee "Bud" Chapman

Earl Lee €œBud€ Chapman, 82, of West Union died at 10:15 p.m. on Monday, March 11, 2013 at Burnsides Community Health Center in Marshall. He was born January 11, 1931 in Auburn Township (Clark Co.), the son of Lee O. Chapman & Cecile Catherine Berry Chapman. Partnering with his father, Bud helped operate a farm equipment business for several years, and also worked for Ameren. A past township board member, he also served as Chairman of the Board for the West Union-York Public Water District and was a volunteer firefighter for the West Union Fire Department. He was a member of Bailiff Church, and in recent years attended the 1st Baptist Church in West Union.Bud is survived by his wife, Betty Stanfield Chapman of West Union. He is also survived by his daughter, Lisa Jo (Scott) Gradle of Mattoon, IL; his grandchildren, Emily (Steve) McClintick of Bloomington, IL, Stephanie Gradle of Chicago, IL, and Samuel Gradle of Mattoon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Richard Chapman; and his sister, Mary Lou Rayhel.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 14th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Burial will be in the Bailiff Cemetery, rural West York. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Bailiff Cemetery with envelopes available at the funeral home.
