Earl Mullins, 84, of Oblong, passed away at 2:25 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the V.A. Illiana Health Care in Danville, IL. He was born May 24, 1929 in Robinson, IL, the son of Harvey Mullins & Ethel Bennett Mullins. Earl proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was drafted on November 16, 1950, and achieved the rank of sergeant by the time he was discharged on August 15, 1952. Earl€™s passion was horses. In his younger days, he was a Roman stunt rider and owned horses for several years. An avid outdoorsman, he also loved to hunt and fish. A lifetime member of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, he was also a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, a 45-year member of Local #149 Plumbers & Pipefitters in Champaign and of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson. He married June Marie Worthey on July 8, 1950, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Jerry & Becky Mullins (Champaign, IL), his daughter, Bonita Bear (Champaign) and his son, Ben Mullins (Homer, IL). He was blessed with several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mabel Inboden (Robinson), Maxine Bradbury (Lake Wales, FL); his brother, Bill Mullins (Robinson, IL); as well as several nieces & nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Danny Mullins, Everett Mullins, and John Mullins; and his sister, Louise Shimer.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17th at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Robinson, with Reverend Aloysius Okey Ndeanaefo officiating the service. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Memorials may be made to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or to the Crawford County Relay for Life, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Memories and condolences may be shared at .
