Edith Melissa Williamson, 81, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 10:10 PM Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO, after several months of declining health. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Thursday, October 23, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel in Hannibal. Bro. Justin Mosher and Dr. Robert Bergen will officiate. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the Smith Funeral Home and Chapel. A second visitation will be held 12:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, IL. Graveside services will follow in Bradbury Cemetery in West York, IL. Pastor Don Williamson will officiate. Edith was the only daughter of Ida Marie McCrory and Vincent C. Williamson, born in Clark County, IL on February 9, 1933. She graduated with the class of 1951 from Robinson, IL High School. She is survived by a dear friend, Alberta Shaw of Hannibal, MO; two brothers, Leon Williamson (Joanne) of Palestine, IL and Nolan Williamson (Scarlett) of Hutsonville, IL; one sister-in-law, Renie Williamson of Michigan City, IN; nine nieces and nephews, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews. Although Edith was never a mother herself, she was dearly loved by not only her family but also by very special friends, Dr. Lorna Stookey (Shawn), Bert Shaw (Jennifer), Annette Krisko (Marc), Bill Daniel (Mary Ann) and Dave Daniel (Janette) and their children. In addition to her parents, Edith was preceded in death by her brothers, Stanley, Floyd and Edgar, her special Aunt Glenn Clements, with whom she lived with for several years. Edith worked for Sears Roebuck Store in Robinson, before transferring to the Sears store in Hannibal. She later worked for Westlake Hardware and retired from MCM Bank in Hannibal. Edith was an avid music lover who shared her vocal talents with many through church, weddings, funerals and community theater groups. Edith was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church, in Hannibal and Hannibal Heritage Chapter NSDAR. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fifth Street Baptist Church, 111 N. 5th Street, Hannibal, MO 63401, in care of Smith Funeral Home and Chapel.
