Edward R. Kinchen

Edward R. Kinchen, 91, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:35 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the Magnolia Center in Robinson. He was born January 5, 1924 in Palo Pinto Texas. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the U.S.S. North Carolina as a gunner in the Pacific Theatre. Back stateside, he worked as a funeral director for a time and eventually worked for Briggs Pottery as a caster. He was a member of the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250, the Ainad Shrine, with whom he spent time as a Shrine Clown. He was also a member of the Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, and was the oldest member of the color guard for several years. He will be remembered for his loving, compassionate nature, his incredible work ethic, his love of movies and of theatre, and the care he gave to his family. Ed married Ruthie Watts in June, 1952 and she survives. He is also survived by his children, Debbie & Larry Dix (Robinson, IL); Karen & David Villalovos (Iuka, IL), and Kim Garrard (Robinson, IL); grandchildren, Jeremy & Erin Dix (Terre Haute, IN), Daniel & Holly Dix (Robinson, IL), Mike & Amy Dix (North Carolina), Lindsey (Dix) & Kyle Holmes (Indianapolis, IN), Zecharia & Ashley Dix (Terre Haute, IN), Chance Barrick & fiancee Mindy (Robinson, IL), Seth & Kerri Lowe (Vandalia, IL), Delaney Schulze (Brownstown, IL), Ashley Carter (Trimble, IL), Corey Schroeder & fiance Kayce Miller (Robinson, IL); as well as a multitude of great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Katherine Shea A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Masonic rites will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home following the visitation on Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th at the funeral home, with Rev. Jerry McDaniel to officiate the service. Burial will follow in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Transportation Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
