Edward W. Guyer, 93, of Annapolis, IL died at 4:49 a.m. EST on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN after a courageous battle against cancer.He was born on a homestead in Sugar City, Colorado (Lincoln County) on November 2, 1919, the son of Everett & Ethel (Gurley) Guyer. He moved back to Hutsonville, IL when he was a young child. The family moved back after his brother Randall was killed in an accident. He was raised on the family farm where he later engaged not only in farming, but owned his own honey bee business.On January 31, 1948, Edward married Maggie Lorean Drum in a double ring ceremony with Bernard & Sylvia Heleine on the same day his brother Emerson & Marion Guyer were married.He was a member of the Quaker Lane Friends Church in Hutsonville and attended the Annapolis Methodist Church for many years. He enjoyed traveling, especially out west, visiting many of America€™s national parks as well as the old homestead in Colorado on numerous occasions.Edward is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maggie Lorean Guyer (Annapolis, IL); three sons & daughters-in-law, Charles & Melanie Guyer (Annapolis, IL), Ivan Guyer (Annapolis) & special friend, Carla Bollinger, Kim & Elizabeth Guyer (Palestine, IL); three daughters & sons-in-law, Char & Jerry Ellington (Godfrey, IL), Donna Dowell (Terre Haute, IN), Mary & Dave McCarty (Marshall, IL); five grandchildren & their spouses, Doug & Nedra Guyer (Annapolis, IL), Elaine & Terry DeZeeuw (Fort Collins, CO), Shane & Terri Cook (Marshall, IL), Todd Cook (Terre Haute, IN), Jared & Laura McCarty (Martinsville, IL); seven step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, a special friend Charles Rains.He was preceded in death by his parents & grandparents; three brothers, Russell, Emerson, & Randall; as well as his sister, Dorothy.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 21st at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union with Pastor Ken Gillaspy officiating. Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Pinehaven Christian Children€™s Ranch, P.O. Box 940, St. Ignatius, MT 59865; or to the donor€™s choice.
