Elgie L. Lawrence

Elgie L. Lawrence, 79, of Palestine died Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 8:19 a.m. at home. He was born November 17, 1934 in Hawkeye, MO, the son of Luther Ott Lawrence & Viola Strutton Lawrence. He retired after working 25 years in the mill room at Victor Dana. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #3329 in Palestine.He married Inge (Machiedo) on December 4, 1975 and she preceded him in death on October 29, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his brothers and sisters; and his daughter Viola Lawrence in 2003.He is survived by his five children & their spouses, Rick & Cynthia Lawrence (Palestine, IL), Gordon Lawrence (Jasonville, IN), Sheila Oliver (West York, IL), Lori & Jerry Richardson (Palestine, IL), and Sandy Lawrence (Palestine, IL); five step-children & their spouses, Gary Guyer, Margaret & Gary Booth, Romane Lindley, Jim & Lisa Guyer, and Joyce Leslie; as well as several grandchildren & great-grandchildren.It is the family€™s wishes for Elgie to be cremated without services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
