Elizabeth Lee Carter, 73, of rural Flat Rock died at 9:32 p.m. on Sunday, October 20, 2013 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family. She was born April 14, 1940 in Nicholasville, KY, the daughter of James Creech & Agnes Moan Creech. She was a housewife, and also worked at County Line Cheese for a time and as a press operator for Fair-Rite later in life. She was a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Flat Rock.She married Billy Joe Carter on October 13, 1962 and he survives. She is also survived by her children & their spouses, David Carter (Flat Rock), Cheryl & Tony Townley (Flat Rock), Lydia & Todd Fancil (Hardinville), and Terri & Chris Bachelor (Mt. Vernon, IL); 8 grandchildren; as well as her two brothers, Tom & Nettie Creech (Iola, WI) and Warren & Ada Creech (Keewanee, IL). She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Shirley Houghtaling.Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Port Jackson Cemetery. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the cancer charity of your choice.
