Elizabeth €œLizzie€ Evelyn Legg, 89, of Robinson died at 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Crawford Memorial Hospital Long Term Care, from injuries sustained from a fall. She was born August 21, 1923 in Port Jackson, IL, the daughter of Everett Riley Legg & Pearl Enola Rich Legg. Elizabeth, or €œLizzie€, lived with her brother Otis for years until she moved to New Hebron with her niece, Janet. During WWII, she worked for the NYA in Oblong, and helped to assemble airplanes for Curtiss-Wright in St. Louis during the war effort. She took classes through Indiana State College to get her teacher€™s license while working at L.S. Heath & Sons. She earned her Bachelor€™s Degree in 1964 and received her Master€™s Degree in 1968. She taught and was principal/superintendent at Hardinville Grade School until 1968 when she went to New Hebron Grade School and then to Washington Elementary until her retirement in 1987. After retirement, she worked in various capacities helping the Senior Citizens.Lizzie was an active member of the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, and was also involved with the United Methodist Women, the Democratic Women, CUTEA, the Retired Teachers Association, and the Odds & Ends Club. She was an avid genealogist and birdwatcher, and loved and cared for her many pets throughout the years. Lizzie is survived by her sister, Christine & Don Catt; her nieces and nephews, Ron Legg, Janet Legg, Michael & Anita Catt, Kay & Raymond Sanders, Charlene & Randy Bachelor, Glynn Legg, Mark & Linda Catt, Duane & Norvita Legg, and Terry & Barb Legg; several great nieces & nephews and great-great nieces & nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers & their spouses, Otis (Hazel, Mary) Legg, Ray €œChub€ (Maxine) Legg, Charlie (Maxine) Legg; and her niece, Connie Legg.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 14th at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, with Dr. Fred White officiating services. Burial will be in the Port Jackson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson and from 12:00 until service time at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home and church. Memories and condolences may be shared at .
