Ella Mae Knoblett, 97, of Palestine, IL, died at 4:12 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Aspen Creek in Robinson. She was born August 30, 1918 in Porterville, IL the daughter of Claude & Eva (Burcham) Peterson both of whom preceded her in death. Ella Mae married Oris J. Knoblett on January 1, 1935, and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her siblings, Earl Peterson, Lorene Brown, Mac White, Leroy White, Velma Boyles, and Foy Lee White; and by her son-in-law, Terry Collier. She is survived by her son & daughter-in-law, Jackie & Colleen Knoblett (Westville, IL); by her daughter, Joan Collier (rural Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren & their spouses, Eric & Laura Collier (Palestine, IL), Brent & Becky Collier (Oblong, IL), Holly & Reed Marks (Greenwood, IN), Maria & David Pearman (Westville, IL), and Danny & Debbie Knoblett (Indianola, IL); by her great-grandchildren & their spouses, Erika & Travis Guess, Nikolette & Dustin Staley, Jalyn Collier, Ian & Melissa Marks, Luke & Hannah Marks, Shelby English, and Taylor Knoblett; by her great-great-grandchildren, Ryien English, Gracelynn Guess, Lukis Staley, and Jude Marks; by her sisters-in-law, Virginia White and Joanne White; as well as several nieces and nephews. Ella Mae was a homemaker, and worked very hard to support her family in this way. She could often be found in her garden or making quilts. While she was dedicated to her home, she and Oris also enjoyed traveling the world. Later on in life, she proved to be an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinal Baseball and Illini Basketball, and also enjoyed playing cards. She was a member of the Crawford County Home Extension. Ella Mae was also a longtime member of the Oak Grove Federated Church, and was, alongside Oris, a staple of the congregation. They were also very active in the Trimble Grange #1799 for many years. Her beloved family has lost a role model and matriarch, and she will be forever missed. A time of visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. and will be conducted by Pastor Scott Mendenhall. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Oak Grove Cemetery Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
