Eloise (Williams) Nichols, 92, passed away August 3, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Leavenworth, KS. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union, IL. The interment will follow at the York Cemetery, York, IL. Eloise was born February 19, 1922 in West Union, IL to Edgar and Flossie (Bartlett) Williams. She was preceded in death her husband Boyd Riley Nichols; son Boyd Williams (Nick) Nichols; and brothers, Paul and Bartlett Williams. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Pat Ann) Black (Mike); brother, Giles Williams of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Jennifer (Kermit) Whittemore of Sitka, AK.; Michael (Carrey) Black of Leavenworth, KS; Jeremy Black of San Francisco, CA; and Tricia Black of Lawrence, KS; two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Eloise and Boyd farmed for many years both west and east of West Union. After her husband’s death in 1965, she continued to live on the farm and later in town for many more years managing the farm, enjoying many organizations she was active in, and traveling, much of the time to visit her daughter and family. At the time of her death she was mostly blind, deaf, had been a widow for 49 years, and was ready to be called home, but she still possessed her sense of humor.
