Ernest E. Wallace, 66, of Martinsville, IL, died at 6:44 p.m. on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson, IL. He was born March 28, 1948 in rural Clark County, the son of Ernest Leroy Wallace & Effie Jane Chambers. He was a math teacher at Martinsville High School for 11 years before joining the U.S. Air Force as an electrical engineer, where he served for 20 years before retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Following his retirement, he taught math at Paris High School for a time, and was currently teaching at Lakeland College in the math department. Ernie was a hard worker who enjoyed staying active. He grew produce to sell at the farmer's market and also raised honey bees. He was a member of the Martinsville American Legion Post #515 and of the Marshall Baptist Church. He married Karen Chapman on August 13, 1967, and she survives. He is also survived by his mother, Effie Jane Chambers Wallace (Rural Martinsville); his children, Ernest Trent Wallace (Marshall, IL), Erik & Cindy Wallace (Annapolis, MD), Keith & Dede Wallace (Martinsville, IL) and Erin & Dustin Oransky (Marshall, IL); his grandchildren, Taylor Wallace, Lauren Kennedy, Lauren Wallace, Lyle Wallace, Shadow Wallace, Haley Wallace, Wynonna Carter, Trey Jayne, Zane Jayne, and twin grandbabies on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Harold & Marion Wallace and Glenn Wallace; and his sister, Lucy & Johnnie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3rd at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Burial will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 2nd at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Island Grove Baptist Church or to the Marshall Baptist Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
