Estalene Smith

Estalene Smith, 86, of Robinson, IL died at 12:15 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. She was born August 21, 1927 in Flat Rock, the daughter of Alonzo Meeker & Ruth Hale Meeker. She was a beloved schoolteacher for the Palestine School District for over 30 years, and was a member of the Retired Teachers Association. She is remembered for her cheerful disposition, and was loved by her family, her friends, and her students. In the past few years, she has battled and survived cancer twice. She, along with her husband Delno 'Smitty' Smith, ran Smitty's Mobile Station in Robinson for 55 years, and he survives. They were married in Mississippi on June 28, 1955. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters & brothers-in-law, Louise & Ralph Outcalt, Garnet & Morn Keller, Jean & Bill Lewis; her brother & sister-in-law, Ralph & Marty Meeker; brothers-in-law, Howard Smith and Ken Smith; and sister-in-law, Lanelle Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial will follow in the Kirk Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 21st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Unit at Casey Health Care Center, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
