Esther I. York

Esther Irene York, 93, passed away October 20th, 2013 at the Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong. She was born February 26, 1920, in Trimble, IL, the daughter of Raymond and Mary Guyer. She attended Business College in Terre Haute, IN and was employed by Merchants Freight there until January of 1943. She then became employed with Marathon Oil Company in Robinson, IL where she worked in accounting. Esther was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Palestine. She was a devoted housewife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Esther married Robert N. York on July 4, 1942, who preceded her in death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include son Robert York II and wife Cindy, of Palestine, and daughter Rita Yeager of Henderson, Nevada; grandchildren, Joel York and wife Missy of Palestine, Michelle Bishop and husband Clayton of Marshall, and Jennifer McCoy and husband Matt of Palestine; and great-grandchildren Cody York, Brady York, Fisher Bishop, and Baylee Bishop. Funeral Service for Esther will be held at 10:00am, Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will follow at the Palestine Cemetery. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
