Evelyn M. Magill

Evelyn M. Magill, 88 of Palestine, IL, died at 11:58 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013 at the Hickory Point Christian Nursing Center in Forsyth, IL. She was born April 9, 1925 in Pinckneyville, IL, the daughter of Theodore and Bessie Estel Dodillet Hubler. Evelyn taught school in the Palestine system for 30 years, retiring in 1982. She was also a member and Elder of the Palestine First Presbyterian Church, the Current Topics Club, the South East LaMotte Home Extension, the D. A. R., and the Crawford County Retired Teacher€™s Association.She married Robert Magill on June 17, 1949 and he preceded in death on October 27, 1998. She was also preceded by her parents, her daughter Kathy in 1973; her sister, Dorothy Montonye in 1998; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Dorothy Magill; and nephew, Mike Magill.She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Ed Fleck, Wapella, IL; her granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Tim Laffey, Riverton, IL; her grandson and his wife, Neil Edward Fleck and Carrie Casper, Sycamore, IL; 2 great- grandchildren, Eva and Finn Laffey, Riverton; 2 sisters and brother-in-law, Betty Knapp, Mt. Vernon, IL, Linda and Larry Bauersachs, Lebanon, TN; and several special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, May 9th at the Palestine First Presbyterian Church at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday May 8th and from 9:30 a.m. to service time at the Church on Thursday. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. Rev. Paul Phillips is in charge of services. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Preservation Projects Society or to the Palestine First Presbyterian Church.
