Evelyn Swaner, 87, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:26 a.m. on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the United Methodist Village North Campus in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born February 24, 1930 in Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of Willard A. Montgomery & Grace (Johnson) Montgomery, both of whom preceded her in death. She married David Lee Swaner on July 9, 1982, and he preceded her in death on July 3, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her son, Ron Tracy on December 13, 1977; by her son-in-law, Jim Earnest; by her brothers, Hugh, John, Bob, Randall, Paul, and Jack; by her sisters, Edna, Lorraine, Helen; and by her in-laws, Mose & Frances Swaner. She is survived by her children, Becky Earnest (Robinson, IL), Rick & Greta Tracy (Flat Rock, IL) and Rita Tracy & significant other Ernie Martin (Chauncey, IL); by her step-children, Mike & Leslie Swaner (Robinson, IL), Mark & Suzanne Swaner (Terre Haute, IN), and Pam & Kenny Catt (Terre Haute, IN); by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter, as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; by her brother, Don Montgomery; by her sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Ron & Beverly Simmons; and several nieces and nephews. She grew up in the Flat Rock area and was a graduate of Flat Rock High School. She went on to become a school bus driver for CUSD #2, before becoming a custodian at Robinson High School then Nuttall Middle School, where she retired in the 1980s. Anyone who knew Evelyn would know that she truly lived her life to the fullest. She enjoyed nearly every drop of her 87 years and was one of the most fun-loving souls one could have the fortune to meet. She could often be found singing, and was especially fond of yodeling. Family and friends alike will remember this one-of-a-kind kidder with warmth, as she truly loved all of those around her. She especially loved every one of her cherished family, who could never forget her as long as they live. She was a member of the Katherine Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Flat Rock American Legion Auxiliary, and the Robinson Free Methodist Church. Evelyn loved the Lord, and accepted Christ years ago. So, as she neared the end of her life, her family had the peace of knowing that she will live forever in the arms of Jesus. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson.
