Fay E. Adams

Fay Adams, 90 of Palestine, IL, died at his home at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 09, 2010. He was born January 14, 1920 in rural Palestine, the son of Lloyd Adams and Stella Powden Adams. He was retired from the C. I. P. S. Power Plant in Hutsonville as a Supervisor. He served in the U. S. Army in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater during WWII, and he was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 and the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549. He was also a member of the Palestine First Christian Church, and was the oldest living Past Master of the Palestine Masonic Lodge #849. He served as Mayor of Palestine for two terms from 1989 to 1997.Fay married Jane Maddox on September 19, 1940 and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2004. He was also preceded by his parents and his brother, Ray Adams.He is survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Robert Weaver, Beach Park, IL, and Joyce Adams and John Windmiller of Champaign; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. James L. and Kathy Adams, Ann Arbor, MI; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren; his four sisters Ola Myers, Bonnie Hudson, and Mary Creed all of Palestine, and Avis McCord of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 14th. Pastor Aryn Meritt is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Saturday and from 7:30 a.m. to service time on Sunday at the funeral home.
