Fern Dennis

Fern Dennis, 92, of Robinson, IL, died at 11:48 a.m. (EST) on Monday, February 6, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born August 30, 1924 in Paris, IL, the daughter of Harry Daily & Fern (Hugg) Daily, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Fred Dennis on October 8, 1966, and he preceded her in death on February 4th, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her son, Stephen Johnson; by her sisters, Lorraine Waltermire and Virginia Daily; and by her brothers, Kenneth Daily and Joseph Daily. She is survived by her sons & daughters-in-law, Emery & Cecilia Johnson (West York, IL) and Greg & Nancy Johnson (Robinson, IL); by her daughter-in-law, Sue Johnson (Florida); by her sister & brother-in-law, Janet & Larry Myers (Mt. Vernon, IL); by her grandchildren, Tracey & Kip Randolph (Robinson, IL), Kim & Ross Ferson (Indiana), Lyndell Johnson (California), Kelly & Eric Gallt (Illinois), Scott & Toni Johnson (Gardner, IL), Kari Johnson-Embrey & Jay Embrey (Shorewood, IL), Gwen Johnson (Terre Haute, IN), Evan Johnson (Marshall, IL) and Kayla Johnson (Robinson, IL); by several great-grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Fern was a 1942 graduate of Gerstmeyer Tech in Terre Haute, IN. She was a waitress and hostess at the Robinson Elks Lodge #1188 for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion Post Auxiliaries. She was an avid reader, and especially enjoyed mystery books. She was a lover of flowers, and had a garden for many years. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. A private graveside will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Elks, to be used towards delivering Christmas food baskets to those in need. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
