Fern Powell Hamblin

Fern Powell Hamblin, 86, of Paducah, KY, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Friday, November 23, 2012 at Lake Way Nursing Home in Benton, KY.Mrs. Hamblin, owner of Fern€™s Frosting in Reidland, KY, worked for over 30 years making wedding and all occasion cakes. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, traveling to visit her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included collecting antique furniture and glassware. She is survived by her children, Carl Hamblin, Jr. and wife Kaye of Calvert City, KY, Roger Hamblin and wife Paula of Independence, MO, and Gary Hamblin and wife Lisa of Alexandria, LA; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.Mrs. Hamblin was preceded in death by her husband Carl Hamblin, Sr.; her parents, Lyman and Methyl Powell; her brother, Omar Powell; her sisters, Lucille Powell, Norma Thompson; and daughter-in-law, Patsy Scott Hamblin.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at the Hutsonville Cemetery with Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union in charge of the arrangements.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the WKTCS School of Culinary Arts, PO Box 7380, Paducah, KY 42002.
