Florence Elizabeth Tudor, 96, of Palestine, IL, went to her eternal home on May 15, 2017. She was born July 17, 1920, the daughter of Fred & Alta (Richards) Burkett. She grew up in Palestine alongside her three siblings, Lowell Burkett, Dorothy (Burkett) Richey, and Kent Burkett. Elizabeth married Forrest Tudor on July 21, 1943. Their family was made complete with the addition of two daughters, Diana Tudor and Darra (Tudor) Strohm. Both Forrest and Diana preceded her in death. She attended Illini Beauty College in 1940 and was a licensed cosmetologist before her marriage. When she and Forrest married, he was in the military and she followed him to Boise, Idaho and then Topeka, Kansas. After Forrest's military career ended, they returned to Palestine, where she owned Tudor Sewing Center for over twenty years. In her retirement years, few things brought her more joy than her grandchildren, Brian Scott Bruner, Beth (Nathan) Kozman, Valerie (Tristan Jardee) Strohm, and Kaitlin (Jesse) Oglesby; and great-grandchildren, Noah Green, Marleigh Green, Kaisen Martin, Avery Kozman, and Michael Kozman. Brian preceded his grandmother in death. Elizabeth truly loved her life, which included her extended family, countless friends, and church family. She will be missed by all who knew her. A time of visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will follow and will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with Pastor Dennis Steckley officiating the service. Burial will be held in the Palestine Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice of Terre Haute or to the Palestine First Christian Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
