Frances "Peg" Hawley

Frances “Peg” Lolitta Hawley, 91, of Flat Rock, IL, passed away at 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at the Willow Manor Nursing Home in Vincennes, IN with her daughters by her side. Peg was born July 18, 1924 in Petty Township in Lawrence County, IL, the daughter of the late William & Martha (York) Gray of Petrolia, IL. She married James Ray Hawley of Bridgeport, IL on July 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1996. Peg enjoyed fishing and watching girls basketball games. The greatest joys of her life were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Shirley & Bill Williams (Vincennes, IN) and Virginia & Gene Montgomery (Flat Rock, IL). She was blessed with four grandchildren & their spouses: Julie & Jordan Sparks, Scott & Alison Montgomery, Shelley Williams, and Sabrina & Scott McGill. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Brody Sparks, Ian Sparks, Madison Montgomery, Chase Montgomery, Jackson Glass, and Mason McGill; a sister, Shirley Thompson; a special niece, Peggy Walls & family; her in-laws, Pauline (Greer) Gray, Fredda (Hawley) & Chuck Tarr, Roy & Charlene Hawley, Martha (Wolfe) Hawley, Shirley (Harbaugh) Hawley; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; two grandsons, Sean Montgomery and Brent Montgomery; two brothers, William Gray and Forrest Gray; and a sister, Jo Hunley. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28th at the funeral home with Pastor J.D. Branson officiating the service. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice or to the Alzheimer’s Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
