Gary David Matteson

Gary David Matteson, 77, of rural West York, IL, peacefully passed away in the comfort of his home on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born October 24, 1935 in Effingham, IL, the son of Walter Matteson and LaVern Matthews Matteson. Gary was the superintendent of the Hutsonville School District from 1974-1992. He was also an avid golfer and St. Louis Cardinal fan.He is survived by his children, Mary Beth and David (Carol), all of Palestine; 3 grandchildren, Cory (Jamie) McDaniel, Kacee McDaniel and Seth Matteson; 3 great-grandchildren, Payton, Makenzie and Madison McDaniel; and special friend, Virginia Hall.Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home, West Union, IL, with Rev. Paul Phillips officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday preceding the services at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 7th at the Arbor Crest Cemetery, Effingham, IL. Memorials may be made to the Hutsonville Alumni Association with envelopes available at the funeral home.
