Gary Wayne Wampler of Robinson, IL, died on July 20, 2016 in the comfort of his home. He was born March 11, 1953 in Birds, IL, the son of August Leigh Wampler & Anna Catherine (Edgington) Wampler, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, Glen Hess & his mother-in-law, Mildred (Dunlap) Hess; by his daughter Julie Ann Wampler, his brother Jerry (Bud) Wampler, his sister Sandra Taylor, his nephew Thomas Ferguson, his niece Pamela Montgomery and his sister-in-law Donna (Hess) Swain. He married Dee (Delores) Hess on October 27, 1973, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Jared & Carrie Wampler (Robinson, IL); by his daughter & son-in-law, Janna & James Bell (Lawrenceville, IL); by his grandchildren, Haleigh Hoke (Lawrenceville, IL), Jevan & Julia Wampler (Robinson, IL) by his step-granddaughter, Megan Bell and fianc Michael Leistner (Patoka, IN); by his step-grandson, Matthew Bell (Lawrenceville, IL) and step-great grandsons, Bentley, Rowan Bell (Patoka, IN) and Landon Leistner (Indianapolis, IN); by his sister & brother-in-law, Karen & Wayne Montgomery (Flat Rock, IL); by his brother & sister-in-law Greg & Terri Wampler (Flat Rock, IL) and by his brother Mike Wampler (Flat Rock, IL) and Janet Davis (Vincennes, IN); as well as several nieces and nephews. Gary was a 1971 graduate of Robinson High School, and went on to serve his country in the U.S. Army. He worked as a Sheet Metal Worker of Local #20 out of Terre Haute, IN for over 25 years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and going to the National Drag races. Gary loved his family and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 25th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 26th at the funeral home with Pastor Shane Bopp officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Robinson New Cemetery, with military rites being conducted by the combined Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Palestine AmVets Post #33. In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Gary may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Flat Rock Community Center, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
