Geneva Cafin, 75, of Palestine, IL, died at 7:53 p.m. (EST) on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born March 21, 1942 in Palestine, IL the daughter of Perry & Margaret (Richardson) Harris, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Dean Cafin in 1962 and he preceded her in death on October 5, 2013. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Clarence Harris in infancy; and her grandson, Jacob Cafin. She is survived by her two sons, Rick Cafin & Deana Tracy (Palestine, IL) and Ron Cafin (Palestine, IL); by her grandson, Josh & Tosha Cafin (Palestine, IL); by her great-granddaughters, Mirah Cafin and Anniah Cafin; by her sisters, Kathryn Wells, Juanita Lingafelter, and Sharon Eaton; as well as several nieces and nephews. Geneva was a graduate of Palestine High School, and went on to work for Cafin Trucking, alongside her husband, Dean. She also worked at Robinson Transformer for a time. When she wasn’t working, she busied herself attending garage sales, and loved finding a good deal. She always enjoyed finding treasures for her beloved granddaughters, as they were the light of her life. She will be remembered for her delicious creations in the kitchen (namely her banana bread and persimmon cookies), and for the love she had for her dogs and for her family, who have lost a special soul in Geneva Cafin. A time of visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 19th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Funeral services will immediately follow and will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Paul Gray officiating. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery. In honor of the love she had for her dogs, memorial contributions may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
