George Ernest Baker, 93, of Robinson, IL, died on February 26, 2026, at 3:24 a.m. at Arbor Rose (now known as Shepard Premier) in Robinson, IL.
George was born on December 16, 1932, in Robinson, IL, to George Franklin Baker & Marian Lillian “Briggs” Baker.
He graduated from Robinson High School in 1950. He later earned his degree in Business Administration from Indiana State University in 1959. George proudly served in the United States Air Force in the Air Weather Service and spent a year stationed in Korea.
In 1960, he married Marsha Watts of Robinson, IL. George worked for Indiana State University until his retirement in 1997. He lived in the Terre Haute, IN, area for 44 years before moving back to Robinson in 2005.
George was raised in the First Baptist Church in Robinson. While living in Indiana, he attended Prairieton United Methodist Church south of Terre Haute. Most recently, he attended Highland Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Marsha Baker of Robinson, IL; his sons, Frank & Ellen Baker of Carmel, IN, Brian Baker of Robinson, IL, and Clark & Susan Baker of Cloverdale, IL; his grandchildren, Adam Baker, Matthew Baker, Ross Baker, Sarah Baker, and Hannah Baker; as well as several nieces and nephews, including Pam Murray Hall of Robinson, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters & brothers-in-law, Caroline & Bill Miesenhelder and Earlene & Byron Murray; and his stepmother, Martha Wesner Baker.
A time of visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 6th at Robinson First Baptist Church. Funeral services will immediately follow at 11:00 a.m., with Brian Baker officiating. Burial will be in Robinson New Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the combined units of the U.S. Air Force, Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's choice, with envelopes available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is assisting the family at this time.
