George E. Kinser

George E. Kinser, 85, of Robinson, IL, died at 10:10 p.m. (EST) on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born January 31, 1931 in Monon, IN, the son of Jessie Elmer & Nellie Ruth (Peterson) Kinser, both of whom preceded him in death. He married Joann Maxwell on December 20, 1957, and she preceded him in death on February 15, 2013. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Kinser and Raymond Kinser; as well as by his great-grandson, Kinser Brubaker. He is survived by his two daughters, Pamela Kinser (Warsaw, IN) and Cheryl Kinser (Gallatin, TN); his two grandsons & granddaughters-in-law, Joel & Nichole Brubaker (Kankakee, IL) and Aaron & Krystal Brubaker (Warsaw, IN); as well as his five great-grandchildren, Nash, Audie, Lux, Axten, and Abbie Brubaker. George was a graduate from Monon High School in Monon, IN. He went on to proudly serve his country in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. Back home, he went to work as an electrician, and worked for Alcoa in Lafayette, IN before taking a job with Ford Motor Co. in Indianapolis, IN. He retired from Ford in 1995 after over 30 years of service. Away from work, George enjoyed woodworking, and built many pieces of furniture for his beloved family. While he was dedicated to his family, he was also dedicated to his Lord, and could often be found intently reading his Bible. He was a member of the Highland Church of Christ, and was also a member of the Hancock Masonic Lodge #101 in Greenfield, IN. His family has lost a father, grandfather, hero, and friend. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will follow the visitation and will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Tom Buchanan officiating the service. Graveside services will be held at the Palestine Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the combined Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Palestine AmVets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the V.F.W. Transportation Fund, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
