Gerald “Jerry” Brannon, 75, of Palestine, IL died at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2014 at VA Illiana Health Center in Danville, IL. He was born May 16, 1938 in Palestine, the son of Glen Brannon & Velma Shidler Brannon. Jerry proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1960. He was a Greyhound Bus driver for 25 years before retiring in 1992. He is survived by his three children & their spouses, Glen & Tina Brannon (Plainfield, IN), David & Patty Brannon (New Lisbon, Maine), and Diane & Rick Wray (Philadelphia, PA); eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; three brothers, Jim & Judy Brannon (Tuscola, IL), John & Donna Brannon (Hutsonville, IL), and Randy & Carolyn Brannon (Palestine, IL); his sister, Sally Gunn (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. It was Jerry’s wishes to be cremated, and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine is in charge of arrangements.
