Gerald L. Hill

Gerald L. Hill, aged 73, passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018. Born on April 12, 1945 in Porterville, IL, he was the son of Roy and Ileen Hill. On October 24, 1969 he married Peggy J. Connelly and she survives. He was a “good looking” man who served his country in the United States Navy on the USS Forrestal and the USS Intrepid aircraft carriers during the Vietnam War. Back home, he worked in the oil field for K.R. Freed and Marathon Oil Co. After retiring, he spent his time farming for Chris Weck and serving as Prairie Township Road Commissioner. In his spare time, he enjoyed visiting with friends throughout the county. He was a very loving husband, father, and “pappy” and will “allways” be missed. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Peggy Hill (Porterville, IL); his daughters & sons-in-law, Kim & Brian Harbison (Georgetown, KY), Kathy & Jeremy Borne (Robinson, IL), and Kelly Hill; his grandchildren, Rich & Kiah Cravens, Kyle Harbison, and Emily Harbison; his brother & sister-in-law, Kenny & Mary Hill (Robinson, IL); his sister-in-law Mary E. Hill (Annapolis, IL); as well as his beloved cat, Riley. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Paul, Deward, and Dwight; and his sister, Margaret. Per Gerald’s request, there will be no services. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
