Graydon Junior Kincaid

Graydon Junior Kincaid, 93, of Palestine, IL, died at 12:45 a.m. on Monday, January 26, 2015 at the Illinois Veteran's Home in Quincy, IL. He was born March 20, 1921 in Jasper County, the son of Graydon E. Kincaid & Secil Kincaid. He was a 1941 graduate of Palestine High School. Graydon served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a SeaBee in French Moracco and Okinawa, Japan. Back stateside, he dedicated his life to farming and also worked for Marathon Oil in Products Distribution for 30 years. Graydon also drove the school bus in Palestine for several years. He was an active member of the Outer West Market Church of Christ in Palestine as a Deacon and as an Elder Emeritus. A lover of animals, he had a number of pets over the years. He enjoyed playing softball, and will be remembered for his spectacular throwing arm. He also enjoyed hunting and spending time with his grandchildren. He married Patricia Adams on December 7, 1946, and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Greg & Alison Kincaid (Palestine, IL); his daughter-in-law, Cynthia Kincaid (Robinson, IL); his grandchildren, Tammy & Bart Allen, Troy & Geline Kincaid (Robinson, IL), Todd & Barb Kincaid (Robinson, IL), Heather Wilson (Robinson, IL), Abigail Grace Bezy (Palestine, IL), and Graydon Micheal Kincaid (Palestine, IL); several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; his sister, Lida Mae Panagakos (Bisbee, AZ); nieces Barbara Harrington and Vivian Kinyon; as well as several other nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; recently by his son, Roscoe Paul Kincaid; his sisters, Gertrude Bartlett and Mary Powell; and his brother, Gerald Kincaid. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31st at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to either the Outer West Market Church of Christ or to the Palestine Preservation Projects Society (PPPS) with envelopes available at the funeral home.
