Harold A. Harrison, Jr., 85, of Robinson, IL, died at 7:53 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born January 26, 1931 in Robinson, IL, the son of Harold A. Harrison, Sr. & Anna Kellogg Harrison, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Debbie Murray; by his brothers, Francis Miller, Charles R. Miller, Floyd Miller, Lloyd Miller, Larry Harrison, and Robert Harrison. He married Doris Duncan on October 20, 1950 and she survives. He is also survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Harold Lee & Kay Harrison (Sullivan, MO); two daughters & sons-in-law, Sherry & Roger Malicoat (Hutsonville, IL) and Mindy & Buck Camden (Mesa, AZ); by 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; by his sister, Rosanne Hart (Robinson, IL); several nieces and nephews; as well as special friends, Ed & Kathy Meyers. Harold was a 1948 graduate of Robinson High School. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Back home, he went to work for Marathon Oil Company, and was a dedicated employee for 28 years before retiring in 1981. Away from work, he enjoyed cooking and woodworking, having made countless treasures over the years. He also enjoyed spending time with his dear friend, Dr. John Trimble. Harold was a man of faith and a longtime member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Robinson. He was also a lay speaker for the Methodist Church and was pivotal in starting the church’s food pantry in Robinson. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and was also active with Kiwanis, where he served as Lieutenant Governor for a time. In his younger years, he was active with the JCs. His loved ones have lost a patriarch and friend, and he will never be forgotten. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21st at the funeral home with burial following in the Robinson New Cemetery. Pastor Judy Williams will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church Food Pantry, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
