Harold 'Farmer' Graham, 88, of West York, went home to be with the Lord, at 7.55 pm, December 12, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 3, 1924 in Melrose Township to Bert & Cora (Cornwell) Graham. Farmer was a WWII veteran of the U S Marine Corps serving in Guam, Iwo Jima, and China with the 3rd Marine Division.Harold married Betty Hollenbeck on May 7th 1947 upon returning home from the war. He was a farmer and starting at a young age, he earned the nickname 'Plow Boy' which grew to the lifelong handle of 'Farmer Graham'. Farming was his lifelong passion, even in retirement he was always checking the crops. He also worked as a road construction worker building Interstate 70 and a school bus driver. He was a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church of rural Martinsville, IL.He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Graham; a daughter, Linda (Larry) Crabtree of West Union, IL; and 2 sons, Steve (Sandy) Graham , Pontiac, IL, Darrell (Maria) Graham, Oblong, IL; Eight grandchildren: Rhonda (Jon) Ledermann, Cara Girdner, Matt (Jennifer) Graham, Chad (Janelle) Graham, Amy Graham and fiance Tommy Fazio, Nicole (Matthew) Moore, Dara (Eric) Potts, Mikaila Graham; fourteen great-grandchildren, Kelsey and Kinley Ledermann, Karissa and Blake Girdner, Peyton and Reagan Graham, Madelyn and Abigail Graham, Isabella and Maria Fazio, Kirsten, Owen, Dexter, and Aiden Potts. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Allen (Eastie) Graham, Jim (Ruby) Graham, Carl (Wanda) Graham and Art (Cleo) Graham; two sisters, Dorothy (Lee) St. John and Elma (Henry) Shelton.His hobbies were fishing, traveling, square dancing, and storytelling. He and Betty spent many winters in Chiefland Florida, known to the locals as 'Melrose South' as well as South Daytona Beach. Farmer will be sadly missed by family, many friends and neighbors.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 17th at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Home in West Union. Burial will be in the Ohio Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 16th at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Ohio Cemetery.
