Harold H. Butcher, 86, of Flat Rock, died at 5:45 a.m. on Saturday, December 31, 2011 in the comfort of his home. He was born July 26, 1925 in Honeycreek Township, the son of Ollie H. Butcher and Charlottie Christine Rich Butcher. Harold served his country in the U.S. Army, being stationed in the Philippines during World War II. He worked for Marathon Oil for over 41 years, and was also active in the South Union Church in Flat Rock, as well as the V.F.W. and American Legion.On June 25, 1948, Harold married Virginia Claire Krise, and she survives. He is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce & Bob Weger (Flat Rock) and Charlotta & Gary Wilson (Robinson); his son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Christie Butcher (Robinson); as well as six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his half-sister, Reba Spyker.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 4th at the South Union Church in Flat Rock, with Bro. Jack Cunningham officiating the service. Burial will be in the Tohill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 3rd at the church. Memorials may be made to Lakeland Hospice with envelopes available at the church. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of services.
