Harry "Brick" Montgomery

Harry B. 'Brick' Montgomery, 91, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 11:15 a.m. Thursday, October 30, 2008 at United Methodist Village North Campus, Lawrenceville, IL. He was born December 18, 1916 in rural Flat Rock, the son of Harry Montgomery and Alice Pinkstaff Montgomery. He served on the Flat Rock Fire Department for 46 years, was employed by the Flat Rock Utility Co. from 1958-1982, and was a member of the Flat Rock Missionary Baptist Church.He married Velma Johnson May 16, 1940 and she survives. He is also survived by his 2 daughters and son-in-law, Pam Montgomery, Lawrenceville and Yvonne and Frank Brandebourg, Mt. Carmel; 3 grandchildren, Nikki Hobbs, Lawrenceville, Jessica Walker, Vincennes, IN, Chris Montgomery, Lawrenceville; 3 great grandchildren, Harley Hobbs, Dalton Hobbs, and Kyrstin Hotchkiss; his sister, Anna Laura Wesley, Flat Rock; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Alan Montgomery; and 3 sisters, Marion Ford, Mildred Weger and Ruth Orlindini.Funeral services will be held Monday, November 3, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock with Brother Bill McCluskey in charge of services. Burial will be in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday November 2nd at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Flat Rock Fire Department with envelopes available at the funeral home.
