Helen Louise Lackey

Helen Louise (Barrett) Lackey, 96, of Robinson passed away on Monday, Sept. 09, 2013 at Timber Creek Village in Robinson. She was born near Flat Rock, IL on Aug. 10, 1917 to Harry Barrett and Leatha (Farn) Barrett. She married Earl Laray Lackey on Sept. 16, 1940 at the Methodist Church in Morganfield, KY and was his loving spouse and best friend for almost 73 years.Helen was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Robinson for over 80 years. As a church member she was a pre-K/Kindergarten Sunday School teacher for over 56 years and for many years was a member of the Ruth Lind Circle. For several years, Helen served as a volunteer helper at the Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL and at the Clothing Center in Robinson, IL. She also enjoyed quilting and sewing for many years. Helen was a 1937 graduate of Robinson High School.She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Joy Barrett of Marshall, IL and Harold Barrett of Robinson, IL. Survivors include her husband Earl Lackey of Robinson; son, Gary Lackey and his wife Diane of Lucas, TX; grandsons, Todd Lackey and his wife Amy of Allen, TX and Jon Lackey of Frisco, TX; great grandchildren, Amber and Ryan Lackey of Allen, TX; several nieces and nephews.Funeral service for Helen will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Pastor George Meese officiating. Burial will follow in the Robinson New Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
