Helen Maxine Houser

Helen Maxine Houser, 89 of Spencer, IN, formerly of Worthington, IN, died at about 7:00 p.m. on February 6, 2014 in the comfort of her daughter's home in Spencer, IN, where she was also cared for by her granddaughter, Rebekah Nickless. Helen was born November 17, 1924 in Palestine, IL to Lewis Meek and Mary Elizabeth Sutton Meek. Helen enjoyed spending time with her dog, Shay as well as watching birds & flowers outside her window. She was a very proud American who loved her flag and everything it stood for. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Herman Bruce Houser, daughter Pamela Jean Smith, and daughter Susan Bonita Hill. She is survived by her sister, Aletha Jean Goodwin (Lufkin, TX), her children; Constance (Gary) Glorioso (Greenfield), Douglas Bruce (Linda) Houser (Merkel, TX), Karlyn Kay (Thomas) Stephens (Trafalgar, IN), Sherril Jo (Tony) Davis (Spencer,IN), Everrett David (Janet) Houser (Concord, CA). 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. CST on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home, located at 501 W. LaMotte St., Palestine, IL 62451. Joshua Thomas Stephens will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Palestine Cemetery.
