Herbert Eugene Boyles

Herbert Eugene Boyles, 86, of Robinson, IL, died at 2:20 a.m. Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Lawrence Community Health Center, Bridgeport, IL. He was born May 7, 1925 in Annapolis, IL, the son of Ira Boyles and Leatha May Hunter. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in France, Philippines and Japan. Herb was a painter with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local #1705. He was a member of the Robinson Moose Lodge, Robinson Elks Lodge #1188, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Robinson V.F.W. Post #4549 and the Palestine Eagles.Herb married Velma White on September 23, 1946 and she preceded him in death on January 3, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents.He is survived by two daughters, Teresa Ann Drake (Glen Carbon, IL) and Mary Louise Smith & Louie Devin (Lawrenceville, IL); 5 grandchildren, James Drake (Omaha, NE), Stacey & Donny Wise (Edwardsville, IL), Tara Stone & Will Shultz (Cheyenne, WY), Tiffani Smith (Chicago), and Brent Smith (Indianapolis, IN).Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 22nd at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Burl Shinkle officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Palestine AmVets Post #33, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69 and Flat Rock American Legion Post #132. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
