Howard Wayne Tedford

Howard Wayne Tedford, 81, of Robinson, IL died at 9:25 p.m. on Thursday, September 6, 2018 at Casey Health Care Center in Casey, IL. He was born on January 20, 1937 in rural Palestine, IL, the son of Herschel Tedford & Edith (Crum) Tedford, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Larry Tedford; and by his sisters & brother-in-law, Dorothy Foster and Norma & Harry Beauchamp. He married Margaret A. Roller of Decatur, IL on April 6, 1957 in Palestine, IL, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons & daughters-in-law, Mark & Janet Tedford (Ankey, IA) and Randy & Sandy Tedford (Robinson, IL); by his four grandchildren, Jennifer Tedford (Robinson, IL), Derek Tedford & fiancée Jalyne Goss (Robinson, IL), Brittany & Brent Dumdei (SD) and Erika & Ryan Mertens (IA); by 6 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren; by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Keith & Sue Tedford (Oakfield, WI) and Leo & Vicky Tedford (Palestine, IL); by his sisters & brothers-in-law, Lois & Dennis Walters (Sullivan, IN) and Rebecca & Myron Helm (Oblong IL); as well as several nieces and nephews. Howard grew up in the Palestine area, where he attended school. In his younger years, he worked for Ralph & Frank Mefford Farms in rural Palestine before getting on at Tempco Products, where he worked for 28 years as a shipping foreman. He retired on May 14, 1998 and spent much of his later years walking the streets of Robinson, a pastime he was particularly fond of. He was, by all accounts, a faithful Christian and was an active member of Highland Church of Christ in Robinson. His family and friends will fondly remember Howard Tedford as a joyful soul who was quick with a joke; a man who lived a good and purposeful life. A time of visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 12th at the funeral home with Shane Bopp officiating the service. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Highland Church of Christ Building Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
