Huberta “Bert” Schultz, 88, of Flat Rock, IL, passed peacefully in her sleep at 7:30 p.m. on Friday January 8, 2016 at the United Methodist Village (North Campus) in Lawrenceville, IL. She was born March 26, 1927 in Pinkstaff, IL, the daughter of Hubert Childress & Millie Thompson Childress, both of whom preceded her in death. Huberta married Millard “Bill” Schultz on February 12, 1947, and he preceded her in death in 1968. She was also preceded in death by her sons, James Schultz and David Schultz; by her granddaughter, Donna Maxey; by her brothers, Carl Childress, Verice Childress, George Childress, and John Childress; and by her sisters, Clara Childress, Rosemary Peterson, and Helen Atkins. She is survived by her daughters & sons-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” & Randy Burris (Cape Girardeau, MO), Mary & Bob Klebe (Pawnee, IL), Jill & Phil Maxey (Flat Rock, IL); six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; by her brothers & sister-in-law, Charles Childress (Florence, KY), Larry & Faye Childress (Tremont, IL), and Andrew Childress (AZ); by her sister, Barbara Moore (Broadway, NC); as well as several nieces and nephews. Huberta was a homemaker, and was truly the head of her household. Although she loved her home, she also enjoyed time outside of it. She was a world traveler, having visited numerous countries in her lifetime. Whether home or abroad, she made countless memories through the years, and lived a full life. It was Huberta’s wish to be cremated. Graveside services will be held at a later date in the Pollard Cemetery, rural Pinkstaff, IL. Memorials may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital or to the American Cancer Society, with envelopes available at Goodwine Funeral Homes. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
