James F. Brown

James F. Brown, 80, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 1:26 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Heritage Health in Robinson, IL. He was born September 15, 1936 in Oaktown, IN, the son of Perry Andrew Brown & Dora Helen (Neer) Brown, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his step-mother, Esther Brown; by his daughter, Mindy Brown; by his grandson, Jaimie Brown; by his sisters, Helen Miller, Dorothy Brown; and by his brother, Billy Joe Brown. He is survived by his children & their spouses, Faye & Rick Tracy (Robinson, IL), Tammy & Terry Pinkstaff (Friendsville, IL), Bob Brown & his significant other, Becky (Flat Rock, IL), Leroy Brown (Robinson, IL), Susie & Kevin Osborn (Everett, WA), and Missy Brown (Flat Rock, IL); by 18 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild on the way; as well as a niece and 3 nephews. James was well-known jack-of-all-trades, and was self-employed much of his life. While he was a hard-working man, he could often be found drinking coffee and shooting the bull with the locals at the Maxwell House in Flat Rock. He also enjoyed fishing and watching old Westerns, John Wayne being a favorite of his. More than anything, he loved spending time with his grandkids. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 12th at the Tohill Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, IL, with Danny Dennis officiating the service. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Heritage Health Activities Fund, with envelopes available at the cemetery.
