Lance Corporal James Luther Baud, 21, of Oblong, IL died at 11:00 a.m. (PST) in Sacramento, CA on May 27, 2013. He was born February 28, 1992 in Robinson, IL, the son of Scott Baud & Thelma Henon (Wall). He and his mother went on several short-term mission trips with the Porterville Congregational Christian Church, of which he was a member.James proudly and bravely served his country as a United States Marine. He went to Marine Corps recruit training in San Diego, CA on December 13, 2010. Once he graduated recruit training, he attended the School of Infantry aboard Camp Pendleton, CA on March 11, 2011. He was then sent to his first duty station with 1st Light Armored Recon aboard Camp Pendleton, CA where he deployed to Afghanistan from November 2, 2011 to May 22, 2012. His bravery will not be forgotten.He is survived by his parents, Thelma & Monty Wall (Oblong), and Scott Baud (Willow Hill); three brothers, Scott Baud, Jr. (Palestine) and Aaron Baud (Oblong), and Cameron Baud (Willow Hill). He is also survived by his grandparents, Luther & Marjorie Henon (West York), Linda Baud (Oblong), Nancy Wall (Oblong); and several cousins, aunts & uncles; as well as three close friends, Ethan €œBeefy€ Buettemeyer, Derek Hoke and Danny Combs; and several Marine buddies.Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson, with Rev. Leland Culp officiating. Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery. Military services will be conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation will be held from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 9th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Porterville Congregational Christian Church Missions Team or Toys for Tots.
