James N. “Jim” Hays, 78, of rural Robinson, IL, died at 4:00 a.m. Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Casey Health Care Center, Casey, IL. He was born November 12, 1930 in Hastings Hill, W. V., the son of Leonard Hays and Carrie Martin Hays. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Jim was a laborer and a member of the Labors Local #1280. He was a member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549 and the Robinson Wesleyan Church. Jim married Ruth Scott on October 29, 1949 and she survives. He is also survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Dena Hayes, Raleigh, IL, Randy and Tanya Hayes, Oblong, Greg and Jennifer Hayes, Robinson; 1 daughter, Rebecca Rutigliano, Robinson; 9 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 1 brother Darrell Hays, Hardinville; 2 sisters, Helen Nelson and Martha Beroni, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Roscoe Leonard Hays; 1 brother, Donald Hays; and 1 sister, Lillian Fancil.Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Friday July 3rd, 2009 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson. Following visitation graveside services will be held at the Prairie Cemetery, rural Robinson. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the AmVets Post #33, V. F. W. Post #4549, American Legion Post #69, and American Legion Post #132. Memorials may be made to the Robinson Wesleyan Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.
