James William Misner, 64, of Robinson, IL, passed away on December 14, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Cumberland County on September 4, 1948, to Clarence & Myrtle (St. John) Misner. He served in the Army in Germany. Jim became a member of the York Lodge #313 in 1969 and was a Master Mason. He was a 32 Degree Scottish Rite Mason from Danville, IL. He was also a member of American Legion Post #69 in Robinson. During his lifetime, Jim worked for the railroad, Briggs, Republic, and Jamax. He retired September 30, 2011.Jim accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Union.In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, working in the garden, planting flowers, and spending time with family and friends. For many years, he would take hunting trips with his best friend to Golaconda, IL. As he got older and his family grew, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jim married Becky L. (Miller) Misner on July 2, 1972, and she survives. They were married 40 years. He is also survived by his daughter & son-in-law, Nikki (Misner) & Joseph Wallace of West Union, IL; his son & daughter-in-law, Dustin & Wendy (Heleine) Misner of Marshall, IL; his 4 wonderful grandchildren, Alex and Kayla Wallace and Lauryn and Peightyn Misner; his two sisters & brother-in-laws, Deloris & Fenton Nickles (Paris, IL) and Phyllis & Carl Robinson (West Union, IL); his 12 nieces & nephews, 21 great nieces & nephews, and 4 great-great nieces & nephews. Jim is also leaving behind his best friend, Doug McIntosh, and his faithful dog, Lucy.Jim was preceded in death by both his parents.Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18th at the Hutsonville Cemetery with Pastor George Meese of New Hope Baptist officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 17th from 3:00-7:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson with Masonic Rites at 7:00 p.m. with a funeral service following after the Masonic Services.Memorials may be made to the Jim Misner Memorial Fund.
