Jane Mize

Jane Mize, 93 of Robinson, IL, died at 3:22 a.m. Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center. She was born August 3, 1918 in Grass Lake, MI, the daughter of Gus Gochis and Stella Cherebas Gochis, immigrants from Greece. She was the second oldest of 5 children. Jane was always a very active person, played many sports and excelled in golf. She had a business in her home where she made drapes, clothes, and did alterations. She later became a member of the Palestine First Christian Church, Ladies Auxiliary of the Moose Lodge and Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary since 1981.Jane married Arnold (Pat) Walsh on March 29, 1942 and he preceded her in death on February 22, 1965. She married Henry J. Mize on December 16, 1972 and he preceded her in death on October 28, 1981. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Ann Cox and Frances Salbenblatt; and 1 brother, Peter Gochis.She is survived by her brother, George Gochis, Ann Arbor, MI; 6 nieces; 6 nephews; 16 great nephews; 5 great nephews; 3 great great nieces and special friends, Max and Joan Fulling.Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, IL with Rev. Aryn Meritt officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10th at the funeral home preceding the services. Donations may be made to the Crawford Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the First Christian Church in Palestine with envelopes available at the funeral home.
