Janett Elliott

Janett M. Elliott, 92, of Robinson, IL, passed away on April 29, 2025, in the comfort of her home.

Born on December 14, 1932, in Robinson, she was one of fourteen children born to John Meek and Rachel (Lowrance) Meek. A lifelong resident of Robinson, Janett was no stranger to hard work. Over the years, she held positions at the local shoe factory and Victor Dana, but the job that kept her busiest-and meant the most-was raising her two boys.

Janett was creative and resourceful, especially when it came to sewing. She often made her own clothes, finding joy and satisfaction in creating something beautiful and practical with her hands. That same quiet care was reflected in the way she loved her family and lived her life.

She married Lee Elliott in 1974, and their time together, though brief, was meaningful. He preceded her in death on July 30, 1980. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by many of her siblings: John Orval Meek Jr., Eleanor Jean Gillaspy, Clarence Charles Meek, Winifred Esther Lacey, Robert Lee Meek, Norma Ruth Anderson, Maryland Joann Meek, Betty Lou Stiles, David Warren Meek, Mary Delores Lamonte, Nina Irene Martin, Earl Charles Smalling, and Barbara Evelyn Karner.

She is survived by her sons, Donald Brush, Jr. of Terre Haute, IN, and Ronald L. Brush of Robinson, IL; by seven grandchildren; and by her brother & sister-in-law, Jack & Mary Meek. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, each of whom carries a piece of her legacy forward.

It was Janett's wish to be cremated. Her remains will be interred at Oak Grove Cemetery at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements.
