Jaynita Johnson, 71, of Fort Branch, IN died at 5:15 p.m. (E.S.T.) on March 2, 2014 in the comfort of her home. She was born February 3, 1943, the daughter of Ralph Smith & Gladys Smith. She worked as a nutritionist for Deaconess Hospital for a time. Jaynita applied for and was accepted as the first female millwright apprentice at Alcoa Warrick Works and became the first female mechanic in 1976, going on to become a mechanical supervisor. Her present husband also retired from Alcoa in 2000. She was a member of Isis Temple Daughters of the Nile and was Queen of the Nile in 1997. Nita was also active in Delta Chi Sigma social sorority, helping juvenile onset arthritic children, a group with which she had been an active member for 25 years. Jaynita married Donald Baggett in 1961 and had daughter La Donna A. Guzzo in 1963 and son Jay Ian Chester Baggett in 1966. She then married Marvin Johnson on June 23, 1979, and he survives. She is also survived by two step-children, DuiWayne A. Johnson & Machelle L. Holland; two grandchildren, Courtney Baggett & Taylor Guzzo; as well as one step-grandchild, Dilen Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) on Saturday, March 8th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock, IL. Burial will be held in the Seceder-Maxwell Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 7th from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (C.S.T.) and from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
