Jeanette K. (Hightshoe) McMahan, 76, of Trimble, IL, passed away on January 17, 2017 at 8:20 a.m. (EST) at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN, following a brief battle with cancer. She was born January 29, 1940 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Russell and Imo (Matheney) Hightshoe, both of whom preceded her in death. She married Robert L. McMahan on December 11, 1959 and he preceded her in death on January 10, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert L. McMahan, Jr. and her son-in-law, Max Mashburn. She leaves behind a sister, Emma Crowe; a brother, Steve Hightshoe; two daughters, Kathy (McMahan) Mashburn and Vickie L (McMahan) & husband James Richardson; two granddaughters, Carri Jo (Richardson) & husband Tom Briley, and Kaylee Wilbur; by five grandsons, Gary (Mackey) Collins III & wife Melissa, Justin Richardson, Shelby Richardson, Benjamin Robbins & wife Amy, and Nickolas Robbins; by five great-grandchildren, Aiden, Cadi, Ollie, Calvin, and Xander; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jeanette was a “go-getter”, someone who never let the dust settle, as she always stayed active throughout her life. She worked hard for Crawford Electronics and for Gary Oxford, but busied herself at home as well. She always put out a vegetable garden, and canned much of her crop. She spent quite a bit of time in the kitchen, and her family will never forget her delicious cooking. She made the most wonderful pies and persimmon cookies, and was always asked to make her famous homemade noodles for family reunions and other events. She loved spending time outdoors, and was known to mushroom-hunt and fish recreationally. She was a well-known lover of animals, especially horses. Her family will remember the love (and sass) she gave to her kids and grandkids, who have lost not only a mother and grandmother, but a friend as well. It was Jeanette’s wish to be cremated with private family graveside services to be held at a later date. The Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Crawford County Humane Society or to the Robinson Food Pantry, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
