Jennifer "Jenny" Tracy, 55, of Robinson, IL, died at 1:29 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 along with her mother, Karan Joan Shonk, the result of a car accident. She was born on July 27, 1962 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Jacob “Jake” Shonk & Karan Joan (Brashear) Shonk, the former of whom survives. She married John “Marty” Tracy on August 27, 2002, and he too survives. She is also survived by her children, Alisha & Tony Stephens (Oblong, IL), Marsha & Curt Bahr (Terre Haute, IN), Cade Tracy (Robinson, IL), and Hannah Tracy (Robinson, IL); by her grandchildren, Laura Bahr, Jailyn Stephens, Khloe Stephens, and Sydnee Stephens; by her brother & sister-in-law, Jason & Loni Shonk (Lancaster, PA); as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Zane Tracy. Jenny was a 1980 graduate of Robinson High School, furthering her education at Deaconess before becoming a fixture as a nurse in the emergency room at Crawford Memorial Hospital. Throughout her 25-year stay, she provided care with a whole-hearted kindness that ultimately earned her the Compassion Award. In 1986 and 1990, Jenny celebrated the birth of her two girls, Alisha and Marsha from a previous marriage. Following the birth of Cade and Hannah in 2006, Jenny decided to make a career move that would allow more time at home with the kids. That move was made to Marathon Petroleum, where she has worked as a nurse for the past 10 years. Anyone acquainted with Jenny would know that she was a very able and knowledgeable woman. She had a thirst for knowledge and held about as many certifications as a nurse could possibly hold. She taught CPR classes for the Red Cross and Frontier College for many years. Jenny possessed a “take-charge” personality, which was reflected not only in her work life, but in her personal life as well. She volunteered her time to teach CPR classes to local organizations such as the Boy Scouts, Girls Scouts, and local churches, and she participated in quite a few area 5K runs. She loved walking at the nature preserve with her family. Singing played an important role in her life, as in her youth she was a member of the Christian singing group “Branches of the Master”. They played for many area churches, including the Porterville Congregational Christian Church, of which she was a member. For as busy as she was, she made sure to keep her family as a priority of her life. They will all remember Jenny as someone who was unafraid of giving without thought of self, and the memories of this selfless woman will live on in their hearts for years to come. A dual visitation alongside her mother Joan will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday January 4, 2018 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 5th at the Porterville Congregational Christian Church with Pastor Jerry McDaniel officiating the service. Burial will follow at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, her family requests that memorials be made to the “Jenny Tracy Memorial Fund” to provide for the future care and education of Jenny’s beloved young children, Cade and Hannah. Envelopes will be available at both the funeral home and church. For more information, or to share a memory or condolence online, please visit www.goodwinefuneralhomes.com.
