Jeramie Elder

Jeramie Elder, 43, of Robinson, IL, died at 6:12 a.m. on Sunday, March 18, 2018. He was born November 18, 1974 in Robinson, IL, the son of Mike Elder and Linda (Martin) Elder, both of whom survive. He married Peggy Lawhead on October 21, 2017, and she survives. He is also survived by his sons, Shawn Elder (Palestine, IL), Kulden Elder (Terre Haute, IN), and Dillon Lawhead (Mattoon, IL); by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Shawn & Lori Elder (Palestine, IL), Dusty & Kristie Elder (Palestine, IL), and Don & Kalley York (Chillicothe, IL); by his sister & brother-in-law, Jessica & Jess Wesley (New Hebron, IL); by his aunt & uncle, Vicki & Dave Krenke (Palestine, IL); as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, George & Betty Jean (Adams) Elder; by his maternal grandparents, Gerald & Pauline (Miller) Martin; and by his uncle, Robert “Big Bob” Martin. Jeramie grew up in the Palestine area and was a graduate of Palestine High School. He was never one to let dust settle and spent much of his life busying himself with various projects. His free time was often spent with close friends who remember a welcoming and lovable man underneath the shy exterior he often put on display. Everyone who knew him would agree that Jeramie Elder was a family man. He adored his wife, showed great pride in his boys, and loved his parents, siblings, and the rest of his family with vigor. While relationships were the cornerstone of his life, he had other passions as well. He loved to spend time fishing on the river and was well-known for his superb fish-frying. He was also a sports fan and could often be found rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals, Dallas Cowboys, or Jeff Gordon. Jeramie Elder was truly a special soul. His presence could never and will never be forgotten. A time of visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 23rd at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Tim Watson officiating. Memorials may be made to Jeramie’s memorial fund, with checks made payable to “Goodwine Funeral Homes”. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
