Jerry Bradbury, 71, of Robinson, IL, passed away on June 26, 2022, at his home in Robinson. He was born June 23, 1951, in Palestine, IL, to John F. "Jack" Bradbury & Julia (VanWinkle) Bradbury. A 1969 graduate of Robinson High School, he would go on to work for Marathon for a time before hitting the open road as a truck driver. Jerry was passionate about his trucking career and enjoyed many years doing work he truly loved. Time on the road prepared him to become his family's de-facto turn-by-turn navigator, as he was able to guide them to their destination with incredible detail!
Back home, Jerry was involved with a number of local organizations, such as the Sons of the American Legion, the Robinson Moose Lodge, and the Robinson Masonic Lodge. However, most of his free time found him woodworking in his shop, crafting together everything from shelves and bed frames to wooden ducks and timeout chairs for his grandchildren! In the house, he could often be found deep in a John Grisham or Louis L'Amour novel or catching up on a pre-taped television show or the news. He was also well-versed in the kitchen, whipping together delicacies such as meatloaf, Mexican casserole, and his famous "hobo dinner", meals he enjoyed sharing with his family. Though Jerry was a devoted husband, a proud dad, and a doting grandpa, they could attest to the fact that the man had a stubborn streak a mile long! He wasn't one to keep his opinions to himself, either. What you saw was what you got, and we are all so glad that what we got was a man who lived a truly full and meaningful life.
He married Becky (Bilyew) on August 8, 1992, and she survives. He is also survived by his children & their spouses, Jason & Stacey Bradbury (Summerville, SC), Brian & Jamie Bradbury (Robinson, IL), Stacey & Mark Holt (Oblong, IL), Heather Angle (Flora, IL), and Marty & Dan Bell (Spencer, IN); by his grandchildren, Jackson and Josiah Bradbury (Summerville, SC), Kinley and Audrey Bradbury (Robinson, IL), Keithfer Dolson and Keirstin Holt (Oblong, IL), and Dillon and Delainey Bell (Spencer, IN); as well as several cousins and other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronnie Bradbury.
