Jerry Lee Martin, 65, of Apollo Beach, FL, died on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at South Bay Hospital in Sun City Center, FL. He was born September 16, 1951 in Trinidad, West Indies, the son of Wallace Emery Martin & Oma Imogene (Price) Martin, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his twin brother, Garry Paul Martin. Jerry is survived by two daughters & sons-in-law, Amy Nicole & Gary Furey (Apollo Beach, FL) and Jennifer Renee & Mark Vezevicius (Wimauma, FL); by his grandchildren, Coral Skye Furey, Azure Lazarus Furey, Morgan Shelby Vezevicius, and Colton Emery Vezevicius; by his sisters & brother-in-law, Phyllis & Gary Michael (Robinson, IL) and Barbara Martin (Robinson, IL); by his brother & sister-in-law, Price Daniel & Judy Martin (Melbourne, FL); as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Jerry was a 1969 graduate of Oblong High School. He went on to work as a petroleum transport driver for Marathon Petroleum for over 25 years, and drove for Robinson IL, Tampa, FL, and Atlanta, GA locations. Away from work, he could almost always be found tinkering under the hood of an old MOPAR. Jerry was passionate about cars, as anyone who knew him could attest. It was this passion that drew him to join the Brat Pack MOPAR Association and the North Georgia MOPAR Club. Jerry spent quite a bit of time with his grandchildren, who he loved with his whole heart. He also had a passion for the ocean, which is why he moved his family to Florida. He loved to feel the sand beneath his toes and the weight of the ocean breeze in his hair. He will be forever missed by family and friends alike. A time of visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 17th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Funeral services will follow and will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial following in the Hardinville Cemetery. Brad Harris will officiate the services. Memorials may be made to the Moffitt Cancer Center, an organization that has made a lasting commitment to the prevention and cure of cancer, working tirelessly in the areas of patient care, research and education to advance one step further in fighting this disease. In honor of his alma mater, memorials may also be made to the Oblong High School Athletics Department. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
