Jerry Allan “Yo-Yo” Correll, 80, of Robinson, IL, died at 3:13 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, February 26, 2017 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born Saturday, January 16, 1937 in Stoy, IL, the son of Ira Ellis Correll & Belva Irene (McCord) Correll, both of whom preceded Jerry in death. He married Mary Frances Hoke on Saturday, May 27, 1961, and she survives. He is also survived by his two daughters, Barbara Dickerson (Robinson, IL) and Lisa & Mark Hall (Noblesville, IN); by his grandchildren, Jason & Ann Dickerson, Jana Dickerson, Amber Martin, Ashley & Greg Russell, Alyssa & Chad Thomas; by his great-grandchildren, Kaleb Patton, Emily Calip, Kasey Cornwell, Carleigh Dickerson, Cayden Martin, Ramsey Martin, Lawson "LJ" Martin, and Bryce Thomas; by his great-great-grandson, Jaxtyn Patton; by his brothers & sisters-in-law, Clair & Shirley Correll (Sevierville, TN), Jim & Susan Correll (Springfield, IL); by his sister & brother-in-law, Lois & Larry Smith (Oblong); and by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Correll (Robinson); as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; by his brothers, William Correll, Ellis Correll, Merle Correll; and by his son-in-law, Steve Dickerson. “Yo-Yo” was a 1955 graduate of Oblong High School where he shined as a varsity superstar. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, having earned the rank of Corporal 1st Class by the time he was honorably discharged. He went on to work for Texaco for 6 years before going to work for Marathon, where he worked for 30 productive years. Away from work, Jerry could be found playing and watching games of all sorts. He enjoyed playing Men's Fastpitch Softball for many years, and was also known to play golf with Marlin Correll later on in life. In his early days, he was a very active bowler, having played in the local bowling league for many years. When he wasn't playing, he was officiating or managing ballgames. He officiated basketball and softball games in several surrounding areas and managed a number of softball teams through the years. He was a huge lifelong Cubs, Bulls and Bears fan, as anyone who knew him could easily attest. Jerry loved being a big kid and entertaining kids, and this led him to become a Shrine Clown. This may or may not have contributed to his collecting clown figurines. He also collected various ink pens. When he wasn't spending time at home in Robinson, he and Mary would spend the winters in Florida in their camper. He was a longtime member, superintendent, deacon and trustee at the Bible Chapel Church. He was also an active member of the Robinson Mason Lodge #250, where he served as a Past Worshipful Master. He was also a Past Ambassador of the Ainad Shrine. He served as treasurer of the Crawford County Krazy Klowns. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #1188. Jerry loved jelly beans and hated anything coconut-flavored. He will long be remembered as a man who never stayed still, and who lived life to its fullest. He dearly loved his family, his Lord, and of course, his two Pomeranians. A time of visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Masonic rites will follow and will be given by the Robinson Masonic Lodge #250 at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the funeral home with Brother Joe Griffith & his son-in-law, Mark Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Tohill Cemetery, rural Flat Rock, where military rites will be given by the V.F.W. Post #4549. Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in St. Louis, providing high-quality pediatric orthopaedic care to children, regardless of the families' ability to pay. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
